What does flow rate mean?

Flow rates are measured in Liters Per Minute, or LPM.

A flow rate of 5LPM indicates that over the period of 1 minute a total of 5 liters of oxygen is delivered to the patient from the oxygen concentrator. A continuous flow concentrator will actually deliver 5 liters of oxygen over the 1 minute span, where a pulse dose concentrator running at a setting of 5 will deliver an equivalent pulse delivered dose.
